Context & Ripple Effects
Gemini's reported audience has expanded rapidly through successive milestones: Google cited 750M+ monthly users in February and 900M+ across 230 countries in May. The latest update extends that reported 900M-user milestone, following the earlier 750M-plus benchmark.
The user figures sit alongside evidence that Gemini is becoming a broader Google platform: prior coverage also cited rising direct API activity and 8M Gemini Enterprise subscribers. MAUs measure consumer reach, however, not usage intensity, revenue, or enterprise conversion.
First-order effects
- Google can point to a 50M increase in Gemini's reported monthly active audience since May, strengthening its case that the product has sustained global distribution.
- The new figure raises the operating baseline for Gemini product, infrastructure, and support teams, which must serve a larger recurring user population.
Second-order effects
- Rival AI assistants face a higher public benchmark for consumer-scale adoption, while Google gains a larger potential funnel for its API and enterprise offerings; the reported MAU figure alone does not show how much of that funnel converts.
- A larger active base makes iteration on Gemini's interface and features more consequential, because product changes can reach hundreds of millions of monthly users.
Third-order effects
- If repeated growth is sustained, consumer AI competition will increasingly be shaped by distribution and retained usage—not just model releases—as providers seek to turn assistant audiences into broader platform ecosystems.
- The gap between reported MAUs and disclosed engagement, monetization, and business adoption will become more important for judging which AI audiences represent durable commercial positions.
The trend: Gemini's growth is one data point in the shift from standalone model launches toward competition for large, recurring AI-assistant audiences that can support wider platform businesses.

$GOOGL now has 950M monthly Gemini users and processes 22B API tokens/min. Compared to 750M back in February. Absurd growth adding 200 million more users in a few months. Kinda explains why they ran out of compute, then cut allocations to $META and others. Very unlikely AI [image…

Lol at $112.1B in net income. This number has long been a joke and is now just farcical in the Age of AI. Paper gains on investments, which, even if realized one day, have zero to do with the actual underlying business on a quarterly basis. Moment in time mark-ups. So silly.

So the “AI will kill Search” story still hasn't shown up in the money. Google Search actually sped up, growing 17% this year against 12% a year ago. Search alone added about $9B, more than the rest of the division combined. Interesting part is the margin, which widened to 41.8% […

This is the first time that Google has missed on search revenue since Q4 2023. EPS was also boosted by $6.26 by unrealized gain on securities (SpaveX), actual EPS would be around $2.85, it rocks that these companies do this lol

$80 billion in ad revenue, $45 billion in capex. Still running at least five adjudicated illegal monopolies (search, App Store, search text ads, exchange, publisher ad server) harming everyone else as open web erodes. Good job everyone.

$GOOGL a monster cloud number: Google cloud revenue +82% YoY, big acceleration But even more valuable is the MARGIN. Cloud margin up from about 21% to about 36%. The compute shortage is gift to hyperscalers.

$GOOGL spent a staggering $44.9B on capex in Q2, up 100% YoY and 26% sequentially. That's $80B in CapEx just in the first half of 2026. Alphabet's actions are clear: the AI infrastructure buildout is not slowing down, it is accelerating. [image]
