I respectfully disagree! ~10% of the global population uses ChatGPT weekly, most of whom are using it like a Google replacement (basic searches) Power users, most of whom are developers, are fantastic...but we need to start exposing the mainstream consumer to what AI can do

I promise that whoever is trying to convince OpenAI that ChatGPT isn't the main product is a liar and is likely trying to cause their downfall. Codex and ChatGPT Work are cool and great builders, but ChatGPT is magic. They are not the same. They put the Magic in a fucking popup.
People complaining about the new ChatGPT Work forget that we are all in a tiny microcosm here. The perspective you need to take is the open AI sales org walking into big enterprise deals. What competes with Claude CoWork better: Codex or ChatGPT Work? It's not even close.
ChatGPT Work isn't about the 5M people who use Codex already. It's about the next 50M and 500M who are about to join the Agentic Era and need to do so with a brand they trust and a product that makes sense for the lives of the normal people. I'm a believer.

i agree. this new setup is weird and dumb. i dont think it was a bad idea in general, but this was not the way to do it. i especially hate the two different “work” and “codex” tabs. what does that even mean? why would you not just use the codex tab for everything?

Thank god I'm not the only one that's so confused about the ChatGPT work/codex/chatgpt classic apps. Now that the confusion over names has been resolved, the confusion over apps is beginning.
