When robotics becomes “real” in many novel industrial settings, I wonder if efforts like the one below will morph into the industrial loan companies of the early 20th century; financial products offered to firms to get in on the technologies of the second Industrial Revolution.

How we might accidentally regulate AI: 1/ DeployCo embeds AI agents across 1,200+ portfolio cos and needs insurance for AI risk 2/ All portfolio cos run on the same few models, so AI losses are correlated across the entire insured base simultaneously 3/ Primary insurers can't

OpenAI raised $4B for a consulting (AKA deployment) firm. Anthropic raised $1.5B for theirs. McKinsey, Bain, and BCG affiliates are investing in OAI's. Might as well own a piece of the thing shrinking your business! PE investors get a 17.5% pref return if their portcos use it.
