Today, we're releasing a redesign of the Claude Code desktop app, built to help you run more Claude Code tasks at once.

Claude Code has been expanding beyond a terminal-bound coding tool: related coverage shows Anthropic bringing it to the web and iOS, adding remote control from mobile and web, and placing computer-use capabilities in its desktop app as a research preview. The desktop redesign builds on that progression by making the app itself a more capable place to oversee work.
The addition of session management, an integrated terminal and file editing matters because it brings activities that can otherwise be split across separate development interfaces into Claude Code’s desktop workflow.

That shift would concentrate more of the development workflow inside AI vendors’ interfaces, while leaving adoption dependent on whether those interfaces remain interoperable with developers’ existing tools and repositories.
The trend: This is part of the move from standalone coding chatbots toward agentic development workspaces that coordinate tasks, tools and execution across devices.

Claude Code is redesigning the IDE for agentic coding. As Andrej said: “We're going to need a bigger IDE. The basic unit is not a file, but an agent.” Cursor now has to fight to define that future of IDE too.

New version of Claude Code in the desktop app dropped today with tons of new features and performance improvements. Between Cowork and Code, I've found I don't really need to open other apps (or even my terminal) to do most of my work now.
These guys are just shipping 10x faster than anybody else right now. There seems to be a lack of both focus and urgency everywhere else. I don't know why... but it's a bit weird.
