Following rumors about @Apple's pricing for a future headset? A couple of notes: 1) It's all conjecture until it's released. 2) If priced at $3k, it's NOT for the “consumer market” and can't be compared to an @oculus #Quest, 3) It will change everything. https://www.macrumors.com…

@bhansmeyer Apple's first foray into this space is going to be a bigger and heavier device that goes after TV. That comes in 2022. Glasses in 2023. Glasses will be heavily focused on utility. The first device will be aimed at media usage in your living room. TV killer.

@raywongy I think it's the only way that someone will be able to develop in XR for Apple in a spatial environment until the AR glasses come out. Which could still be years away. It's a new market and requires new tools and development.

Specs sound awesome and as someone in the space I'll buy it at pretty much any price, but I really don't understand the $3K price target coming from Apple... I guess they market it as a full on computer replacement? M1 powered, work station, Mac Pro level for creators? https://tw…

The Apple #VR headset will be very powerful and has all the bells and whistles, at $3K it really looks like they spared no expense. A device for creators & developers, not consumers. This is what I expect developers will use to build apps for #AR as well. https://www.theinformati…

The key will be what Apple expects you to do with it. At 10x the price of Oculus Quest 2, I'm guessing “play Beat Saber” isn't the primary use case. https://twitter.com/...

This drawing of the design feels quite realistic to me. The band is clearly based on the Apple Watch Sport band if it were mixed with the double cuff. The design of the front area over your eyes with the top mounted button is reminiscent of AirPods Max. https://9to5mac.com/...

@raywongy I have many thoughts about this. I think the primary thing to consider is that VR is a very good onramp for developing for and building immersive apps. Smartphones are great, but they only get you so far. I believe that these devices will be targeted towards enterprise …

I really hope Apple knows what it's doing and isn't putting the cart before the horse Gonna need some really good reasons to invest $3,000 in a headset... unless it's for devs/enterprise which would be so weird for Apple https://www.inputmag.com/...

More seriously, everyone (including Apple obviously) knows that a $3k headset is not going to sell in high volumes. I guess Apple figured the way into this market is through specialised use cases in industry, before technology can miniaturise down into something consumer focused.

$3K sounds like a lot, but 8K displays and iPhone-level performance would be better than the CPU and monitor setup I have now. I still say that a sufficiently powerful headset can emulate and replace any prior computing paradigm https://twitter.com/...
