Triller didn't deny the claim from a source that it inflates MAUs to the public and says there's “no legal definition of MAU/DAU”, ahead of expected SPAC merger

“There is no legal definition of MAU/DAU,” says Mike Lu, Triller CEO.  “We are an open ecosystem ... Triller's value is in monetizing users, not MAU or DAU.”

In response to claim that Triller is inflating user numbers in public vs what it tells music rights holders, its CEO actually said this: “There is no legal definition of MAU/DAU” Then says Triller won't share user numbers anymore despite its intention to SPAC. Airtight defense ht…

Lying about MAU/DAU is so unbelievably the norm it is basically an openly-accepted growth strategy when you're first starting out. Very glad we are calling it out, but tbh the shock around this feels weird!! Also.. let's look into early Musical ly/TikTok too while we're at it🙃 ht…

Since Triller intends to go public via SPAC, how is this not some sort of securities fraud? Triller Admits to Inflating Public User Figures | Billboard https://www.billboard.com/...

I've always wondered how reliable it is to compare MAU/DAU numbers across services since it depends on their thresholds for detecting & filtering bots, etc. Triller is the first time I've seen a company basically admit that their numbers are meaningless. https://twitter.com/...

@davidclowery Because it's known prior to the public buying the stock Private investors may have a claim, but probably better for them to exit after SPAC deal, assuming the biz has positive momentum Lowering the baseline for comparability purposes could actually be good for futur…

Triller is now accused (again) of reporting higher usage stats to the public than it reports to the rights holders. First Universal pulls its music off the platform, now this? It was all good just a week ago. https://twitter.com/...

    A *lot* going on in this statement by Triller's CEO, I applaud ⁦@MicahSingleton⁩ 's restraint https://www.billboard.com/... https://twitter.com/...
