We're live from Google I/O!  Show hasn't even started and there's already an AI-generated duck with lips happening, this is going to be a time y'all https://www.theverge.com/...

Pretty sure Google is focusing on AI at this year's I/O. #GoogleIO https://twitter.com/...

@SkyLi0n ... The last time Google made such an abrupt pivot in response to a perceived threat is probably the launch of Google+ in 2011

The most interesting part of #GoogleIO so far — Google will be watermarking all AI-generated content going forward And it will remain intact, even if the content is edited https://twitter.com/...

One reason why I think Google will be unable to handle the AI bullshit tsunami it's going to help create with Bard: It does a terrible job right now. Here, for instance, is its confident answer to a question about its own property, which is off by ~ $10 billion. https://twitter.c…

Google I/O summary: AI. coming soon.

Google says it's working to manage the tension between being ‘bold and responsible.’ Governments concerned too, which is why Biden hosted a few tech CEOs at White House last week, including Google's Sundar Pichai. 1/2 https://twitter.com/...

#googleio keynote is trying to be everything for all audiences. Core content appears to be aimed at investors (AI! MORE AI! Ads!). Cloud/Workspace for enterprises and devs. The LLM model detail for internal Googlers and recruitment. (Oh, and consumer stuff, too.)

Gave up when we got to Enterprise and Google Cloud. Will be back when it gets interesting! #GoogleIO

See why Google spent tens of millions of dollars lobbying against the anti-self-preferencing law introduced (#AICOA) last Congress? Their #googleio response to ChatGPT relies on hardwiring their copycat products to the top of results. Same playbook they've used for 15 years.🥱

40 minutes into the Google keynote: Let's talk about search (Someone's keeping an AI counter, right?)
  • @rachelmetz Rachel Metz on x
just think about this for a second: six months ago google barely talked about generative AI outside of its research labs. today @sundarpichai said the company is integrating it into all of its core products.
  • @benbajarin Ben Bajarin on x
Thanks to AI this era in tech industry history will be known as “the great pivot.”
  • @mkbhd Marques Brownlee on x
The theme of so many previous Google I/O events has been “we're doing a lot of AI research, but they're all internal projects” and very quickly this one is starting off with “Now we're actually using AI to make our products better”
  • @rachelmetz Rachel Metz on x
google wants to make AI “helpful for everyone”, says sundar pichai. i can't tell if he's excited or annoyed (or both) RE the fact that google has been using AI for years and years in various ways but suddenly people are talking about it (via generative AI) as if it's brand new.

Google Photos: 1.7 billion photos are edited each month. Sundar Pichai says using AI, you can do more w/an editing tool called Magic Editor. Pretty crazy how easily you can manipulate images - moving people & generating new background info. Available later this year. #GoogleIO
  • @fredericl Frederic Lardinois on x
If only Google actually rolled out the features it announces at #googleio right away. It's almost always “later this year.”
  • @markhachman Mark Hachman on x
Google is reinventing all of its products around AI, Sundar Pichai says at #googleio, including search.
