The FCC has granted partial approval to SpaceX for Starlink Gen2, allowing it to deploy up to 7,500 satellites (of requested 29,988). “We defer action on the remainder of SpaceX's application at this time.” https://docs.fcc.gov/...

FCC decision on SpaceX's application for its Gen2 Starlink satellites, with some key conditions. “Our actions will allow SpaceX to being deployment of Gen2 Starlink” Highlights mine: https://www.fcc.gov/... https://www.fcc.gov/... https://twitter.com/...

This partial grant is a bit bizarre... the FCC repeatedly accepts, almost word for word, random restriction requests from competitors. First, the strange partial approval decision comes almost directly from Amazon's Project Kuiper. https://twitter.com/... https://twitter.com/...

Quite an interesting stance from the FCC on the partial approval of Starlink Gen2. Makes sense given the insane # of sats that was sought. Will be interesting to see how further approval of this application will proceed... https://twitter.com/...

Starlink Gen2 summary: FCC approves launch of layers 5, 6, and 7 in my SG2 table at https://planet4589.org/..., to a total of 2500 out of the requested 3360 sats in each of those layers. Approval of the remaining 22500 Gen2 sats is deferred
