  Bezos says he'll give away the majority of his $124bn before he dies. If only there was some mechanism by which billionaires' wealth could be vested to the state in order to help those less well off.

  Also, let's talk about this phrasing: “pledges to give away most of his wealth in this lifetime” What is “most”? Is that $62.1 billion? That would be most of $124 billion. What goes Bezos need with the remaining $61.9 billion? Why in his lifetime? Why not right now?

  Jeff Bezos has just pledged to give away most of his $124 billion net worth. I think he should just hand it over to MacKenzie Scott, who has unhesitatingly given away billions in just the past few years without needing to be convinced to help other human beings.

  Bezos is light on specifics on this pledge, except to say that he does plan to do this. He then makes your standard concessions about philanthropy being hard and him wanting to do so in a leveraged way.
