Alphabet missed on top and bottom lines in Q3 as YouTube ad revenue dropped in the quarter and total revenue grew just 6% — marking the weakest growth period since 2013, other than one pandemic q. https://www.cnbc.com/...

Google missed on all numbers. Revenue of $69B versus $70B expected and YouTube ad revenue dropped by -2% versus +3% growth expected. Headcount grew by 36K people from 150K to 186K which looks bad given net income dropped to $13.9B versus $18.9B a year ago. https://www.cnbc.com/..…

Google shares are falling after the company reported weak earnings. YouTube sales missed expectations again, and the Cloud and Other Bets units both saw widening losses. Interested to see how execs explain this on the call.

Of all the areas of Google's Q3 business, the y/y drop in YouTube ad revenue feels the most ominous across the media and tech industry.

Well, it begins. Alphabet misses earnings estimates effectively across the board. Meta is probably going to be a disaster tomorrow. https://www.cnbc.com/... https://twitter.com/...

It wiped out 60% of Facebook's value. But one other big tech co gets a majority of its data from 3rd parties. It's much harder to isolate but no one should count out impact of “signal loss” for google. Lawsuits underway for Android, chrome in US and EU impacting G's surveillance.…

Alphabet just released its Q3 results: overall ad revenue is up, as is Search, but YouTube revenue is down 2% year-over-year. As I've said: the decline we're seeing in digital advertising is driven by ATT, not macro (1/X) https://twitter.com/...

HOLY SKATEBOARDING CAT VIDEOS - YouTube revenue shrank! Alphabet down after hours, missed on top and bottom lines. via @jenn_elias https://www.cnbc.com/...
  • @munster_gene Gene Munster on x
Youtube was the biggest disappointment, down 2% yy, which is 5% below the Street. Search grew 4% yy but missed estimates by 4%. That compares to 14% growth last quarter.
  • @eric_seufert Eric Seufert on x
2/ Google Search is totally immune from ATT whereas YouTube is very much impacted by it. The divergence in performance between Search and YouTube is an imperfect but instructive comparison. Why would Search Advertising be up if a recession was depressing digital ad spend broadly?

Seven years after forming Alphabet, the company's “other bets” now account for 0.3% of sales.

“Other Bets” crossed $200m in a single quarter for the first time ever. Not much to make but just pointing to another milestone. $GOOGL
