I had a lovely time talking with @reckless about @signalapp & how I'm thinking about developing + caring for a truly private messaging app, as a nonprofit, in a tech ecosystem dominated by the surveillance business model. Listen here ⬇️ https://www.theverge.com/...

Talked to Signal president @mer__edith about competing with iMessage, RCS, and facing down government pressure to break encryption. Oh, and what it's like to hire a new CEO. A really good episode of Decoder -> https://www.theverge.com/... https://twitter.com/...

This is the Signal that we use. Learn more about it. Why Signal won't compromise on encryption, with president Meredith Whittaker Signal messages are more private than iMessage and WhatsApp. Here's how. https://www.theverge.com/...

Massively insightful interview with Meredith Whittaker @mer__edith by @reckless even as someone already pursuaded by the arguments. She is incredibly articulate and impressive. Immediately donated. https://www.theverge.com/...

Consumers should never have to worry about tech companies “keeping a promise” about encryption. It should be immutably encoded at the base layer. Forever. That's what we're building at Iron Fish. https://twitter.com/...

Really enjoyed this @DecoderPod with @mer__edith and @reckless Does a great job covering “why signal” I sent it to my signal group chats first (full of people I dragged into the app over the years 😉) https://www.theverge.com/...

“To put this in machine learning terms, the objective function of their company is increasing profit and growth forever. That is literally the definition of metastasis, right?” Excellent, thought-provoking interview: https://www.theverge.com/...

Loved this @reckless conversation with Signal's Meredith Whittaker. A glimpse into a world where you're reckoning not just with Big Tech, but with nation states and some pretty deep moral quandaries too https://www.theverge.com/...

Strictly speaking, isn't it possible for Signal to know who is talking to whom by observing how it's routing packets (messages) around? I don't think they save or track this, but it isn't impossible with their protocol, as I understand it. https://twitter.com/...

I'd like to read more outside reporting/analysis on the SMS decision. Can't say I'm totally convinced it's the right move but I'm open to reading more. Can anyone point to anything good? I can see it's a tough call though. https://twitter.com/...
