An important point on the current state of the creator economy: “The pandemic introduced volatility to the broader trend, starting with a rapid acceleration during COVID lockdowns” Now that the world is opening back up that's changed https://blog.patreon.com/...

More layoffs at patreon, eh? https://blog.patreon.com/... I'll summarize this: We are investing into the future of Patreon by firing people! Last week security team, this week 17% of all employees. They're currently valued at 4 billion $ so it's not like they're poor. 🤔

patreon is just outright closing their dublin office in this round of layoffs. 🫤 https://blog.patreon.com/...

Patreon Lays off 17% of Staff https://blog.patreon.com/... They also let go their security team last week. Also, *rumours* are making rounds about Meta and Google layoffs coming soon. Tech is in meltdown ahead, I guess.

This has me concerned. If Patreon goes down, a lot of great artists will lose a big source of income. Despite them being a badly run company, you can't just “boycott” them because you're them depriving artists of support. It's a sticky situation. https://twitter.com/...

Last week's rumors that Patreon has let go of its security team was part of larger layoffs. Patreon's CEO said they laid off 80 people, or about 17% of its entire staff: https://blog.patreon.com/... https://twitter.com/...
