Let's debunk this System on a Chip (SoC) idea with @VMware and @Broadcom. Everyone points to @Apple M1 as the roadmap. If it's the roadmap, how do you squeeze more than a decade of work into the few quarters the Street will give VMware and AVGO for DPU?

It's interesting: as someone deeply (and I mean deeply) involved in the world of computing infrastructure, I never actually run into VMware products. Is it exclusively in “enterprise”? https://twitter.com/...

Also congrats to Michael Dell for getting $25b on top of all the money he got when he “spun off” VMware six months ago?

Someone could write a book about all of the various VMware corporate musical chairs over the last dozen years or so. Not sure it would be the most interesting book. But damn. So much corporate intrigue.

Quoted in the ⁦@Reuters⁩ piece. IMO a Hock run VMware will make a ton of money by slashing R&D efforts if not spend on paper. VMware has tried lots of stuff that didn't work. Hock will eliminate that culture and focus on what sales today. Cash cow. https://www.reuters.com/...

If history is anything to go by, this doesn't end well. @VMware now has a huge challenge ahead to maintain innovation and customer trust. https://twitter.com/...

Broadcom plans to rebrand and operate as VMWare if deal goes through. Dividend policy remains unchanged. $AVGO $VMW https://twitter.com/...

Acquiring VMware doesn't transform Broadcom into a software company overnight. This has significant integration risk and Broadcom must prove that it can integrate a silicon + software & services story. Huge question marks. $AVGO https://twitter.com/...

Fantastic news for VMware shareholders. ($61 billion. For VMware. 🤣) Probably not so much for VMware customers and employees, however. https://twitter.com/...
