Google's automated “inclusive warning” on Docs is very broken and annoying, like suggesting “landlord” may not be inclusive but making no notes about the N-word

New: Google has introduced “inclusive warnings”, pop-ups in GDocs. Google said “landlord” was not inclusive; Google had no notes when we uploaded full text of an interview of former KKK leader David Duke in which he says N-word and hunting black people https://www.vice.com/...

i'm a little sad that this article didn't talk about the obvious captive audience that is students with chromebooks (who are necessarily using google docs to write essays). this is going to fuck up the development of the voices of so many young people 😕 https://www.vice.com/...

I don't get this. We're warned that we shouldn't upset landlords or warned that we shouldn't upset landladies? https://twitter.com/...

this reinforces every negative stereotype of Google and Silicon Valley tech titans. I don't know what is worse, that they can't stop themselves or that they justify their actions as a morally virtuous. https://twitter.com/...

I find enough of Grammarly's advice helpful that I use it a lot. But part of the secret of using these services is to ignore many of their suggestions. (Grammarly never accuses me of being insufficiently inclusive, but it has lots of other complaints.) https://www.vice.com/...

Google has resurrected Clippy but this time it's powered by bad AI and suggests that you call landlords “property owners” 🥴🤮 https://www.vice.com/...

say what u want about Clippy but at least he was never a class traitor https://twitter.com/...

the new Google Docs feature suggests edits to MLK's “I Have a Dream” speech, but not to a transcribed interview of David Duke using the N-word https://www.vice.com/... https://twitter.com/...

this feature read a David Duke transcription and said “sounds great fam” but attempted to edit god's best blogger Jesus Christ?? it's so busted https://www.vice.com/... https://twitter.com/...
