Opera has launched the iOS version of their Crypto Browser, designed for accessing web3, with a non-custodial crypto wallet built-in.

Opera has been building toward this for years: it tested an in-browser Ethereum wallet back in mid-2018, shipped it to Android that December (its first Android browser with a built-in wallet), extended it to desktop in April 2019 with synced keys, then added Tron support. In January 2022 it packaged all of this into the Crypto Browser Project beta for Windows, Mac, and Android.

The iOS launch closes the last major platform gap in that rollout — and it lands during a sharp selloff, with Ethereum down more than 20% over the past week, meaning Opera is doubling down on web3 distribution at the moment retail interest is retreating.

  • iPhone users get a non-custodial wallet, exchange access, and dApp support inside the browser itself, removing the need to install a separate wallet app for Ethereum, Polygon, and Celo.
