@reneritchie What if this is the beginning of a monitor that doubles up as the long and forgotten rumoured Apple TV (with an actual screen)? I suppose the question would then be why not TvOS? What if a second OS will be adapted from iOS (first one being iPadOS)?

The Studio Display has the muscle to be a 21st century remote access terminal? Login to your Apple ID and access everything? VNC for apps and games? Remote and/or locally run anything? No Mac needed. Prelude to things coming in June WWDC? Why else all the hardware overkill? https…

[Thread 1/2] For those not caught up on the Studio Display power cord situation, Apple's website says it's “not removable,” but obviously @reckless + @linusgsebastian + others have proven it can be removed with enough force. It's the full-sized HomePod all over again...

Why is the Studio Display ‘overspecced’? Economies of scale of old Apple SoCs is prolly the main reason, but also future Apple displays will likely be built off the same hardware base, so they have some headroom for e.g. the next Pro Display XDR driving the mini-LED zones.

One thing in intrigued about the Studio Display is it has an A13 chip, 64GB of storage, and runs iOS. I could see some announcements at WWDC around extensible applications to the display. Studio a new size class for iPad apps? They are trackpad and keyboard enabled now.

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, but Apple's Studio Display seems to have a fan in it. I noticed when I was setting it up in my office today that there was a breeze coming from the top of it.

This means that the Studio Display has double the amount of storage as the base Apple TV 4K, as well as being much more powerful for... Center Stage? https://twitter.com/...
