Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, and Ping Identity form the Critical Infrastructure Defense Project, offering their services to US hospitals and utilities for free
The project extends Cloudflare’s earlier free security offering for US political campaigns and follows a separate industry alliance that offered free help to hospitals and national health services in Europe. It brings that assistance model to US hospitals and utilities through a named three-company initiative.
The move also sits alongside DHS’s Joint Cyber Defense Collaborative, which assembled major technology partners around ransomware and cyberattack response. The significance is the shift from individual vendor philanthropy toward coordinated protection for organizations treated as critical infrastructure.
Cloudflare, CrowdStrike, and Ping Identity formalize a joint route to serve critical-infrastructure organizations rather than offering separate assistance programs.

The project raises the competitive expectation that cybersecurity vendors targeting hospitals and utilities will contribute coordinated support, not only sell standalone products.
