Arm's late-May flagship reveal has become an annual fixture: the Cortex-A78 and Mali-G78 designs that powered 2021's Android flagships followed the same slot a year earlier, as did the A77 and Mali-G77 before them. What distinguishes this cycle is positioning — the Cortex-X2 is pitched at Chromebooks as well as high-end phones, widening Arm's flagship core beyond mobile.

The 30%-over-current-phones claim also continues a measurable pattern: each generation's headline number lands in a similar band, from the A76's 35% in the VR-and-AI-focused 2018 refresh down through the A75's 22% two years prior.
