Snap’s Spectacles began as a camera product, then added depth sensing in the third-generation redesign. The newly unveiled AR version moves the line to lens-projected imagery and creator testing, making the display a core product dependency rather than a component hidden behind the camera.

The deal sits at the start of a longer Spectacles arc: later coverage describes Snap planning a lighter consumer-oriented Specs device and creating a separate Specs Inc. subsidiary for the upcoming glasses business.
