Apple, Aldus, and Adobe were inextricably tied together for success in the early days. Desktop publishing was a huge driver of Mac purchases: Aldus PageMaker & Adobe's fonts (on the Mac and on printers) were a key reason.

Regardless of what you think of Adobe's practices now, Chuck co-founded one of the most influential software firms in history. He was smart, witty, generous and had an amazing history. ... Including a short life as a Jesuit. https://www.mercurynews.com/ ...

RIP to a real one. The Portable Document Format (and its ubiquity) is an incredible achievement that we should rank up there as one of the great innovations in tech. https://www.theverge.com/...

Charles Geschke, co founder of Adobe, passed away. Even though he is more known for his work at Adobe, he developed global compiler optimizations for his PhD with Bill Wulf. At Tartan Labs I worked on a compiler based on this! https://www.proquest.com/... https://www.wsj.com/...

I think Charles Geschke was the first design legend I ever met. Don't know where I'd be if Adobe never existed. To start a company that creates an entire industry is 🙌. Respect. https://www.theverge.com/...
