A skeptical look at Clubhouse, where most conversations are boring and whose audio-centric, synchronous content may be far less compelling after the pandemic

I've been podcasting/live broadcasting for a long time, but I still find using Clubhouse stressful for all the reasons in this article. Specifically: -It is totally unpredictable when you'll be called upon -Zero written/visual feedback from the audience https://medialyte.substack…

Clubhouse reminds me of Meerkat/Periscope in that the experience is unique but I can't see people found this regularly once the novelty wears off. Impromptu conference calls isn't what we'd spend our time doing if not for a global pandemic.

I think there's an important opportunity to be the Peloton of podcasts. You can have interactive shows at a particular time slot but people can catch it later on demand. The fact I can't listen to @sriramk's shows with @finkd and @elonmusk after the fact is a bug not a feature.

Great post that echoes a few of the thoughts I've had recently. I keep seeing @Meetup whenever I open the app, not the ephemeral, multi-directional podcasting platform I think they want to be. Still early though. https://twitter.com/...

clubhouse is for people who love to talk, who have managed to make their rooms boring, incredibly niche, or both! https://medialyte.substack.com/ ...

Interesting read. “In many ways, Clubhouse is the anti-Quibi: Where one counted on normal life and flopped in quarantine, the other is killing in quarantine but poised to flop in normal life.” https://twitter.com/...

I've received a few invites to join Clubhouse, and I suppose as a media industry journalist I'll eventually need to try it out, but it just sounds like such an exhausting platform to participate in, and there are only so many hours in the day. https://medialyte.substack.com/ ...
