Where Apple goes, others follow. Charger and headphones gone from @SamsungMobile S21 devices. Here is S20 Ultra packaging vs S21+ and S21 Ultra. Half the size! #SamsungUnpacked https://twitter.com/...
  • @starfire2258 Sean Hollister on x
Had to grin: Samsung's “unboxings” of the Galaxy S21 series show someone charging the phone, even though there's no charger in the box https://news.samsung.com/...
  • @tldtoday @tldtoday on x
Just once I'd like to see an android manufacturer say hey apple I see why you made your box smaller instead of make fun, then homer into bush and do the same exact thing 6 months later
  • @tapbot_paul Paul Haddad on x
Now that Apple has managed to normalize no included chargers in phones, how long before they do the same to laptops?
  • @geoffreyfowler Geoffrey A. Fowler on x
Goodbye charging brick and headphones. Samsung is following Apple in cutting accessories from the box of its #GalaxyS21. Yey for the environment. Boo for the sold-separately upsell. https://www.washingtonpost.com/ ...
  • @ronamadeo Ron Amadeo on x
By the way, the Galaxy S21 doesn't have MST. It's not on the spec sheet and Samsung just confirmed in an email. Samsung Pay will focus on NFC.
  • @mishaalrahman Mishaal Rahman on x
Samsung just confirmed this to us as well. RIP MST. https://twitter.com/...

Messages by Google is native to S21 phones. One big step closer to matching Apple iMessage technology (especially with RCS successor to SMS/MMS). Google Duo is built into Galaxy S21, too. I'm happy to see Samsung yield this part of the software to Google. #SamsungUnpacked 19/ htt…

I love how the S21 Ultra is both $100 more expensive and $30 cheaper than the iPhone 12 Pro Max
  • @sdw Sebastiaan de With on x
Can you imagine an iPhone shipping with two near identical apps to send a message? It's kind of nuts what kind of stuff is normal on Android. https://twitter.com/...
  • @greengart Avi Greengart on x
The Galaxy S21 starts in the sweet spot for premium smartphones: $799. @samsung is undercutting Apple, and, in the U.S., carriers will happily subsidize that further if you switch or trade-in a recent device. #SamsungUnpacked https://twitter.com/...

iPhone 6 Plus has a higher PPI than S21+

Praise be: Samsung is getting rid of its terrible Bixby Home/Samsung Free portal on the homescreen in favor of the Google Discover feed https://www.blog.google/...

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is the one with the big screen, price tag, and all the camera goodies, including some new software. Here's everything you get https://www.cnet.com/... #SamsungUnpacked #GalaxyS21

The @SamsungMobile Galaxy 21 Ultra has some camera improvements that @Batteryhq rounds up here. Who better to evaluate those capabilities than a v skilled photog like Andy? Can't wait to see what he finds when he starts using an S21 Ultra around Scotland https://www.cnet.com/...

No ToF/LiDAR even on the Ultra. Too bad. https://twitter.com/...

The best part of Samsung's “Phantom Black” phone is that “Phantom” sounds like “Vanta” and it's clear they want you associate the two (if not assume one is the other) https://www.theverge.com/...

this doesn't bother me, NFC payments are common enough now for it not to be a big deal. microSD tho.... https://twitter.com/...
  • @backlon Dieter Bohn on x
Google Messages “made native to S21 series” but I'm told that Samsung Messages is still the default. Which means there will be TWO texting apps on the S21, and knowing which supports RCS will be ....confusing. GREAT JOB EVERYBODY!! https://twitter.com/...
  • @reneritchie Rene Ritchie on x
Really want all this S21 camera hardware on the iPhone... Zoom remains the biggest missing piece in all-around camera functionality.

    Samsung's Galaxy S21 phones don't include microSD card support https://www.theverge.com/... https://twitter.com/...
  • @stshank Stephen Shankland on x
Galaxy S21 has Android Auto support for navigation and entertainment and Google voice recognition while driving. Good that Samsung is emphasizing easier onboarding. In my experience that's a huge hassle for new services. #SamsungUnpacked 20/ https://twitter.com/...

SmartThings dashboard in Android Auto is p dope though, catches up Android Auto to what you can do with CarPlay and HomeKit right now (like open your garage door when you pull into your drive way)

I'm glad Samsung is touting stronger glass on the Galaxy S21. Durability, toughness, and ruggedness remain a major smartphone shortcoming. Stronger is better, but no way will I not use a case. 10/ #SamsungUnpacked https://twitter.com/...

Samsung talking about “the chipset” as “5nm” but not actually identifying it is still so weird. We know it's Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 in the US and Exynos elsewhere, but it's SUCH A TELL that Samsung tries to be hand-wavy about it. https://twitter.com/...

So, I know the spec sheets say it, but Samsung has doubly confirmed to us that the S21 will not have MST for contactless payments — at least, in the US. https://www.androidpolice.com/ ...

Samsung, you really had to make Samsung Pay literally worthless, didn't you? https://www.androidpolice.com/ ...
  • @harrymccracken Harry McCracken on x
Samsung Pay's compatibility with magnetic-stripe payment terminals seemed like a great idea, but on previous phones I found it too complicated and unreliable to bother with. https://www.androidpolice.com/ ...
