Another video making Nancy Pelosi seem drunk goes viral; YouTube, Twitter removed versions of it, while Facebook, where it has 3M+ views, adds fact-check label

once again targeting @SpeakerPelosi. If Facebook can't defend against low-tech disinfo like this video, it's clear they're not ready for the threats that are coming our way in November. They need to do better. Now. https://twitter.com/... Rep. Jennifer Wexton / @repwexton : This kind of manipulated media presents a real and present danger to our democracy. That's why I founded the Task Force on Digital Citizenship to help develop policies that can counter this threat. Facebook should take down the video immediately. https://www.cnn.com/... Donie O'Sullivan / @donie : A number of Democratic lawmakers calling on Facebook to remove the viral fake video of Nancy Pelosi https://twitter.com/... Donie O'Sullivan / @donie : NEW: Another fake video edited to make Speaker Pelosi appear drunk is going viral on Facebook — more than 2 million Facebook views since Thursday. Video also circulated on TikTok. TikTok has removed it. Facebook has not removed it but has labeled it. https://www.cnn.com/... Rep. Nadler / @repjerrynadler : Having recognized the manipulative content in this video, ⁦⁦@Facebook⁩ should take it down entirely. It is not enough to just label this as fake. When lies and falsehoods are deliberately pushed, action is needed to stop them from spreading. https://www.cnn.com/... Oliver Darcy / @oliverdarcy : But why did Facebook only act after the video had been online for days and amassed 2 million+ views? https://www.cnn.com/... https://twitter.com/... Donie O'Sullivan / @donie : Despite Facebook labeling this video as partly false and saying it will be shown in less people's feeds — it has had almost a million more views since yesterday evening. Now at 2.5 million views. https://www.cnn.com/... Rep. Debbie Dingell / @repdebdingell : Facebook must immediately take down this video and do better to combat disinformation on its platform. It's dangerous to our democracy. https://www.cnn.com/... Davey Alba / @daveyalba : What's most unclear about these takedowns is: where is the line? The Pelosi video got 2M views. Plandemic got 8M. America's Frontline Doctors, 20M. What triggers the review and decision for a takedown? Can't @Facebook be more transparent about that? https://www.cnn.com/... Rep. Joe Neguse / @repjoeneguse : Nearly every other platform has identified this video for what it is— blatantly false, harmful disinformation — & chosen to remove it. @Facebook's inability to do the same is a yet another example of their complete abdication of responsibility. Shameful. https://www.cnn.com/... Breanne Deppisch / @breanne_dep : Facebook has not removed the viral Pelosi video from its platform, but as of Sunday has labeled it as “partly false.” Unclear if that will resonate w/the millions who already watched... https://twitter.com/...

The false Pelosi video now has 3.1 million views on Facebook. It had 1.6 million when I saw it first on Sunday.

I urge @Facebook to remove the doctored video of @SpeakerPelosi. Also, under Facebook's manipulated media policy, a fake video showing you hitting another person wouldn't be removed because it wouldn't have “words that [you] did not actually say.” Do you agree with that policy? h…

Absolutely ridiculous that Facebook is leaving up the altered video of @speakerpelosi. They are not up to the task of stopping disinformation. We have to do better.

It's hard enough to defend against foreign actors disrupting our politics. At the very least, we should be able to expect U.S. companies will not tolerate the tactics we despise of our enemies. Do better, @Facebook. #takeitdown https://twitter.com/...
