We believe that for up to 36 of the 130 targeted accounts, the attackers accessed the DM inbox, including 1 elected official in the Netherlands. To date, we have no indication that any other former or current elected official had their DMs accessed.

Important update to this story. Can we all agree it's time for Twitter to enable end to end encryption for DMs? Something Twitter doesn't have the keys to access can't be stolen at Twitter. https://twitter.com/...

Also more. Twitter says hackers accessed DMs for as many as 36 of the 130 high profile accounts targeted in last week's attack. When I asked Twitter last week, it declined to say if hackers had accessed DMs. https://techcrunch.com/...

I don't understand why you can't purge all your DMs like email or have them disappear like Snapchat or Instagram. This was obviously going to happen. https://twitter.com/...

Our investigation continues, but we wanted to share more specifics about what the attackers did with the accounts they accessed. Following a complete review of all targeted accounts, here is more detail on what we know today:

We're also in early stages of exploring add'l potential revenue products that complement our advertising business, which may include subscriptions & others. It is very early; we do not expect any revenue against these in 2020. $TWTR

On revenue: Total revenue was $683 million in Q2, down 19% due to a decline in advertising revenue across most markets. US revenue was $365 million, a decrease of 20%. Total int'l revenue was $319 million, a decrease of 18%. $TWTR

We incurred an operating loss of $124 million, or -18% of total revenue, compared to operating income of $76 million or 9% for the same period in 2019. The decrease in year-over-year operating income is primarily due to lower revenue and higher personnel-related costs. $TWTR

Twitter grew mDAU by 34% and revenue is down 23% year over year. The revenue decline is surprising given Snap saw revenue grow 17% year over year for the same quarter. Must be an advertiser mix challenge (e.g. no summer movies advertising on Twitter ). https://www.cnbc.com/...
