Google says it will ban stalkerware ads from August 11, but leaves a loophole for stalkerware vendors to get around the ban by posing as “family safety” apps
Google announces it will ban ads for stalkerware (malware in abusive relationships). But in 2017 we reported on these ads, Google banned thousands of them in response, only for them to come back So clearly violated policies back then, just didn't enforce. This is pretty late tbh …
@Techmeme @gcluley @Google is second only to @facebook when it comes to screwing people for money. You can't have principles if you view people as products.
It's funny how this is the exact same stance that Congress takes when they try to undermine encryption. It's either about terrorism or about “family safety.” Won't someone think of the children? https://twitter.com/...
Google: you know what'd be a great idea? banning ads for stalkerware apps. Also Google: let's give them a nice easy loophole to get around it so we can still make shit tons of money off them. https://www.grahamcluley.com/ ...
