🤮🤮🤮 What a terrible product decision. Did the scissor keyboard designers get a new job internally or something? 🤮🤮🤮 https://twitter.com/...

These are supposed to be opt-in under the new rules - we'll see about that. Looking at @lyft as one of the more annoying culprits of spamming ads in pushes, which are opt-out by design. https://twitter.com/...

Depressing that, after years of enforcing a consumer-friendly policy against everyone but itself, Apple chose to scrap the policy rather than apply it consistently. Expecting more of that. https://twitter.com/...

Following comments that Apple ignores their own rules, they made the one decision nobody wanted here. Impressive. https://twitter.com/...

Just so we are clear: Mr. Developer, if you do this I will uninstall your app. https://twitter.com/...

Only reason Apple is conceding to allow developers to now spam us with ads in push notifications is because their hypocrisy in doing so with their own notifications was called out. Ideally they should stop with the upsells versus letting apps do it too. https://www.theverge.com/.…

@Techmeme @filipeesposito One of the reasons I moved to iOS was the lack of garbage notifications. There are apps that I do want notifications from but don't want their advertisements. Pretty disappointed.

Apple is now letting devs spam you with annoying notifications just like Apple does to promote its services https://twitter.com/...

Glass half empty: You can now show ads in push notifications. Glass half full: Companies have been sending ads in push notifications for a long time. I don't see why Apple would suddenly change the rules unless they were getting ready to enforce them. https://twitter.com/...

It's opt-in. But why would you opt in? https://twitter.com/...

Some interesting changes in today's App Store Review Guidelines update: Marketing push notifications are OK 🤦🏼‍♂ ️. Don't build apps for crowded categories [nanny state emoji]. IAP wording change 🤔. Apps in highly-regulated fields must be legit 🔒. https://twitter.com/... https://…

So the 4.5.4 push notifications rule is now enforceable because they relaxed the wording (and Apple's apps now comply) — apps just need an opt-out toggle somewhere https://9to5mac.com/... https://twitter.com/...

(Apple already let apps send ads in push notifications, it just told developers not to; everybody did it anyway, including Apple) https://twitter.com/...
