Twitter confirms it is testing bright labels beneath lies and misinfo posted by politicians and public figures, and points-based “community badges” for users

Twitter is considering warning users when politicians post misleading tweets

The “harmfully misleading” tag wouldn't just be for politicians. It'd be for climate change denial and health misinformation, too, at least according to this test. https://www.nbcnews.com/... https://twitter.com/...

The test also shows a “Community Reports” feature for disinformation. This could include “points” that would heavily weight useful “reports” of disinfo on the platform. The demo says it's “like Wikipedia.” Twitter reiterated this is just an option. https://www.nbcnews.com/... htt…

Here's what the community reporting tool could look like. Two schools of thought on community moderation: —Without checks, it could be brigaded by bad actors, as most things do. But! —Bad actors could get scarlet letter'd by abusing the reports function https://www.nbcnews.com/..…

Come on people, the video literally had *cricket sound effects* added in the background and repeated comedic cuts to the facial reactions of the various candidates. You have to think voters are really dumb to think they'd believe it was an actual unedited clip from the debate. ht…

This is a great step. I'd still like the ability to see a handle's history of display names, avis, handles, and languages used, with a similar visual flag of anyone with excessive numbers of changes and/or tweets. https://twitter.com/...

Here is what Indian twitter would look like if this feature is implemented. Most of the tweets by Right Wing will be marked as “Harmfully Misleading” as shown below 👇 https://twitter.com/...

This isn't a reason to make a decision by itself, but some very bad actors and notorious disinformation grifters have had instant, viscerally negative reactions to this Twitter news. https://www.nbcnews.com/...

Whoa. This is legitimately interesting and seems well thought out. Twitter could be so much better and it's great to see their product teams flexing on sophisticated tools to help fight disinformation and lies. https://twitter.com/...
