This is potentially a HUGE deal for Android https://www.theverge.com/...

“China's Xiaomi, Huawei Technologies, Oppo and Vivo are joining forces to create a platform for developers outside China to upload apps onto all of their app stores simultaneously” Yes please. https://www.reuters.com/...
  • @ronamadeo Ron Amadeo on x
This seems like nothing. Chinese OEMs aren't making a unified app store, they're just going to make it easier for developers to upload to China's many app stores. Chinese app stores are still going to be a fragmented mess. https://www.reuters.com/...

The GDSA gives Chinese phone vendors a bigger user base for overseas apps. But let's not confuse the Play Store with GMS. Lack of Google apps is still a problem if cut off https://uk.reuters.com/...

The Huawei Ban paved the way for this. Expected it to happen sooner or later anyway. https://www.reuters.com/...

Big news and very troubling for Google! Chinese big smartphone makers will join their App Stores distribution and ecosystems under a new “Global Developer Service Alliance (GDSA)” https://www.reuters.com/...

This is massive!!! I have been saying for the last 10 months that we may see a completely different mobile landscape if the chinese vendors joinned forces to build a third ecosystem and an alternative to Google. It's happening! @DavidKirton_ https://www.reuters.com/...
