Unless I'm misreading this, Chrome will soon unilaterally block *all* midroll ads in videos less than 8 min long. Hey, I don't like 'em either! But Google — which makes $15 billion/yr selling video ads! — shouldn't be allowed to kill off its competitors https://blog.chromium.org/…

If your site's videos have ads that Google doesn't like (including mid-roll ads or long non-skippable pre-roll ads), Chrome will soon block it. https://blog.chromium.org/... https://twitter.com/...

Google announced today that it will start implementing Better Ads Standards on some videos. ‘Some’ being key here, so... keep using your ad blocker. 😉 https://blog.chromium.org/...

“The Coalition has announced that website owners should stop showing these ads to their site visitors in the next four months.” That is the vaguely Orwellian way Google is saying it will block your video ads in Chrome if it finds them unpleasing. https://blog.chromium.org/...

Why is Google allowed to interfere with how other advertisers are able to operate? It competes with them and approaches like this make its own ads more valuable. https://twitter.com/...
