According to Xcode, Apple Watch Series 5 has the same generation CPU/GPU as the Apple Watch Series 4; I guess the only changes are a gyro and 32GB of NAND? The plus side of that is that we won't have to worry about watchOS being slower on the Series 4 than on a brand new model
You shouldn't upgrade your Apple Watch just for the always-on display, but if you were thinking of buying a new one anyway you'll like this perpetual time-telling watch. My review of Apple Watch Series 5 https://www.wired.com/...
One tidbit I don' t think I've seen anywhere else - watchOS 6 will allow you to delete some of Apple's own apps off the Apple Watch (finally). Good news for several reasons, esp. inclusivity. You can remove breathe, walkie, stopwatch,, cycles,, now playing, radio, and more
