Uber says it recently modified some of its JUMP electric bikes after finding a braking problem like the one that prompted Lyft to recall its electric bikes

Faiz Siddiqui / Washington Post : Tweets: @faizsays , @asherdemontreal , @faizsays , @faizsays , and @faizsays Tweets: Faiz Siddiqui / @faizsays : Another update here: Uber says JUMP bikes were modified more than a year ago “so the braking response is smoother and more gradual.” Still doesn't say why the change wasn't publicized or what exactly it was in response to. Lyft is still investigating the issue. Asher / @asherdemontreal : Apparently Uber/JUMP faced the same issues as Lyft now is with their ebikes. It didn't publicize it, or tell Lyft (which is using the same Shimano system)... So... no one has their shit together? http://www.washingtonpost.com/ ... Faiz Siddiqui / @faizsays : After Uber names Shimano brakes as the part in question, Shimano says it's not at fault: “With regards to this specific case, based on the information we have, this is not a Shimano brake issue.” Faiz Siddiqui / @faizsays : Long before Lyft grounded the e-bikes it operates this weekend, Uber pulled and modified its JUMP Bikes over the same issue, which sent people flying over the handlebars. So why didn't it tell anyone? https://www.washingtonpost.com/ ... Faiz Siddiqui / @faizsays : New: Uber quietly modified JUMP bikes after the same sudden braking issue that led Lyft to ground ebikes nationwide this weekend. Uber won't say why it didn't publicize it or warn Lyft. People were getting thrown from bike saddles http://www.washingtonpost.com/ ...
