This update deletes that gate.

The move lands weeks after an Ars Technica piece argued Tesla was using its customers as unpaid safety drivers while full self-driving remained out of reach (that critique framed each autonomy increment as risk shifted onto owners). Removing the confirmation step is exactly the kind of increment it described.
