When Google debuted Pixel Buds in 2017, real-time translation was the headline feature — but the launch review quickly flagged that Translate worked only for Pixel owners, one of several lock-ins alongside Android-only Assistant support. Today's move dissolves the most visible of those restrictions: live translation now runs on any Android phone and any Assistant-optimized headphones.
