The move lands in a market where platforms actively fight back: Facebook responded to earlier blocker pressure by changing the signifiers used to detect its desktop ads, a template for how social networks evade client-side filters. Meanwhile Google was already reported to be building ad-blocking into Chrome itself, meaning the browser layer is becoming a filtering battleground.
