Interesting web browser stats: Market share... India: UC Browser (Alibaba-owned) 51%, Chrome 30% Indonesia: UC Browser 41%, Chrome 32% US: Safari 52%, Chrome 39% Global: Chrome: 47%, UC Browser 16% Worldwide users... Chrome 1B+, UC Browser 430M http://www.wsj.com/... http://twitt…

To beat Chrome, UC Browser focused on bundling deals with budget smartphone makers in emerging markets but does that scale when people buy new/better phones? Time will tell.

A Browser You've Never Heard of Is Dethroning Google in Asia. My look today at UC Browser's success over Chrome in India and Indonesia, home to many of the world's next billion users: https://www.wsj.com/... pic.twitter.com/2WjPV1uqPa

Installed the UC browser this morning after reading the @WSJ article. First impression: quite fast. I don't think it will replace my default browser but I'm happy to see continued browser competition. #tech #IT #technology https://www.wsj.com/...

It's a threat to dethrone Google more widely considering Google's biz is 88% advertising and UC has a built-in ad blocker. I've often wondered if Google gives UCWeb other considerations (like it pays Eyeo to keep its text ads whitelisted). Who knows? A very murky world. http://tw…

@Techmeme @newley Article is a year late. UC has been losing share to Chrome in India in the last 12 months, quite rapidly. http://twitter.com/...

Good example of a Chinese startup no one in the US paid attention to years ago but is hugely strategic & valuable... (@GGVCapital funded the company along w/ Morningside prior to multi $B acquisition by Alibaba) http://twitter.com/...

When software drives hardware obsolescence, emerging markets turn to slimmer software. A new Chinese browser for reuse markets upends Google https://www.wsj.com/...
