This lands mid-stream in a run of Uber privacy rollouts: two weeks earlier the company added post-booking pickup adjustments and new driver support options, and days later it followed with self-serve account deletion plus notification and location-sharing controls in a broader privacy-feature batch. The intersection option is the same playbook applied to trip data itself.

What makes it more than a UI tweak is where it points: within a year Uber escalated from rider-side workarounds to hiding destination detail from its own supply side, with a pilot to stop showing drivers exact pickup and drop-off logs in an area-level obscuring program.
