A Polymarket trader allegedly netted $1M+ in 24 hours with large positions on 22 correct predictions out of 23 attempts on Google's 2025 Year in Search rankings

Context & Ripple Effects

Polymarket’s activity has broadened from large political wagers to high-volume event contracts, including Super Bowl outcome trading that produced a six-figure winner. This episode brings that trading dynamic to an information product tied to a major internet platform rather than a conventional sports or election event.

The platform’s growth has also sharpened questions about who captures returns: reporting on its rise highlighted an uneven profit distribution, while a later study flagged patterns consistent with nonpublic-information use. A near-perfect, large-position run therefore matters beyond the individual payout.

First-order effects

  • The trader allegedly captures more than $1 million as the Google-ranking contracts resolve, while traders on the other side of the positions bear the corresponding losses.
  • The result puts immediate attention on the timing, liquidity, and information available around these specific contracts, because 22 correct calls from 23 attempts is far outside an ordinary mixed record.

Second-order effects

  • Polymarket and observers have greater incentive to examine whether contract design, market timing, or account behavior gave sophisticated traders an advantage—an integrity concern made more salient by reported suspicious-profit patterns.
  • Other prediction-market participants may become more cautious about taking the opposite side of large, concentrated positions in contracts whose outcomes can be anticipated from data or early signals, potentially reducing liquidity or widening prices.

Third-order effects

  • If such outcomes recur, prediction markets may increasingly be judged not only by whether they forecast well but by whether access to information and execution is distributed fairly; the later account analysis describing highly concentrated Polymarket profits points in that direction.
  • That would reinforce pressure for stronger market-surveillance and contract-governance practices as prediction platforms expand beyond marquee political events into data-driven consumer and platform topics.

The trend: Prediction markets are moving from headline political bets toward a broader set of information-sensitive contracts, making market integrity and profit concentration central tests of their platform model.

A Google insider has officially been exposed on Polymarket. This dude just profited $1,000,000 in a single day betting on the Google search markets. Google accidentally pushed the results early, then removed them, but not before it revealed he went 22/23 on his bets and [image]

@JeongHaeju ... The reason for prediction markets to exist is insider trading. In stocks it's prohibited, with predictions it's endorsed. It's designed to be like this.

I thought it's an open secret that unregulated betting markets like Polymarket and Kalshi are the perfect place to do insider trading? It's not regulated, runs on crypto- so those with insider information will naturally use it to cash out at the expense of everyone else? No risk

people will have Polymarket badges and not even understand the point of a prediction market. “insider trading” shut up!!!

This is what happens and what will continue to happen when unregulated markets are bet on as if they are regulated.

somebody said that prediction market successes are less about the wisdom of crowds and more about insiders profiting on exclusive information and I think about that a lot

Polymarket and Kalshi are the perfect solution to insider trading laws, of course they're billionaires (both are VC-backed) https://x.com/...

🚨Prediction markets = legal insider trading? Unlike equities, they reward information asymmetry. Google reportedly leaked its 2025 top searches, and some guy went 22/23 on Polymarket, turning positions into $3.9M after already pocketing $150K from Gemini 3.0 intel.

I do like how prediction markets have recreated insider trading from first principles.

If you let people gamble on things that can be known for certain, they're gonna do stuff like this. It's why we have insider trading laws. This shit should not exist.

A trader made almost $150k in a few days of trading on @Polymarket. The best traders are genuinely trying to hide from us and continue to make good money, but we keep finding them. I'm dismissing any thoughts of insider trading right away, but this guy is simply PRINTING MONEY. […

If you think rampant gambling is bad for sports, just wait until you see what mainstreamed prediction markets do for society as a whole.  [embedded post]
