  Reminder that Yann LeCun did not actually work on Llama. He is known for criticizing LLMs and for proposing his own architecture, JEPA instead. So you cannot blame LeCun for Llama's failures.

  What's interesting about this one job move is that LeCun was essentially demoted and pushed out of Meta because he refused to drink the Kool-Aid: He thinks AI is useful, but he does not think AI is Jesus. The purge of skeptics is always a bad sign for the future of an industry.

  Meta's AI org is in disarray. First Soumitra Chintala, the inventor of PyTorch leaves. Now Yann LeCun, their AI head leaves. They have $600B in compute commits until 2028, but I guess it's up to Alex Wang and Nat Friedman to deliver.
