OpenAI’s partnerships span compute providers and chipmakers alongside developer-product announcements, tying its application layer more closely to the infrastructure needed to run it. The scale of its compute commitments was already under scrutiny in coverage of its more than $1T in computing-power deals.

The strategy also sits beside a changing supplier mix: the Nvidia arrangement involved planned investment tranches, while later coverage described Broadcom’s role in diversifying OpenAI’s chip supply for inference. Together, the deals make the company’s platform ambitions inseparable from its capacity strategy.
