Itch has issued a statement.  No surprises.  This all fucking sucks.  —  itch.io/updates/upda...  Apparently, EU is considering making their own payment processing service.  Maybe hope for an alternative (but nothing short-term...)  —  thepaypers.com/payments/new...

itchio removing nsfw works is like when tumblr banned porn, vast and arrogant overestimation that anyone uses the website for anything else lol

Looks like https://itch.io/ is the next victim of pressure from card processors and activist groups, choosing to delist all adult content and auditing all content available for sale.

I don't like porn games, I think they're distasteful and crass and I'd like more effort by storefronts to keep it away from kids but I despise the idea of mastercard/visa essentially creating their own laws and strangling markets to suit their moral ideals. this is wrong

Itch io situation is bleak man. People who dismiss this just “lol it just shitty indie porn game” When its fucking deeper than that. Payment Processor now DICTATE which art is legal. This shit can happen to any SFW vanilla game if they deem there's ‘inappropriate’ content
  • @jadeofcelestial @jadeofcelestial on x
itchio functionally banning eroge because of payment processor companies is so fucking bleak lol like okay, the company has dictated that this art is no longer permissible and theres nothing anyone can do abt it, legally speaking
  • @dracthegoblin @dracthegoblin on x
Itchio and steam is just the start, if Detroit become human is one of their targets you really think any game or movie or book or indie project is safe? These people are a roving band of reactionary sycophants and everyone else is turning a blind eye because its “gross”

We need PIX or whatever in America. Mastercard and Visa need to burn. This is a long time coming.
