A look at the AI landscape and its impact on Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, and Amazon, as well as the foundation model makers, including OpenAI and Anthropic Ben Thompson / Stratechery : Stratechery 2025-06-24 Ben Thompson Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta, Microsoft, Ben Thompson / Stratechery Related Coverage Meta's five biggest AI problems Platformer I think counting “virtual worlds” among Meta's potential new businesses is pretty optimistic. They've done some really interesting work on this ( https://katjaschwarz.github.io/ worlds/ ) but I'm not sure they're anywhere near a revenue generating product yet, and the existence of one seems PRETTY speculative, IMO. … @theoreticalb i felt like the entire column of “new business potential” was very limited and not expansive enough - but it's sort of difficult to predict the future at this point. the other items were accurate imho @documentingmeta Meta AI in the interview meant the standalone app in particular if memory serves me correctly not novel uses of AI. That said, I zoomed in on the column on new business opportunities and missed there was a column on core business. So 2/4 were missed. Not as egregious as my original comment. @carnage4life Zuck talked to @stratechery about four business opportunities with AI last month and none of them is listed here. It calls into question the entire analysis in my opinion @carnage4life a very succinct and accurate chart on the state of AI for big tech from @monkbent 1. Google, the company with the most to lose and possible disruption has sort of the best everything to deal with this storm. 2. The risk for Meta about any new tech/app is always about attention being diverted away. @documentingmeta
