Actual “good” is probably closer to AI2, but this information helps one calibrate the middle of the “evil” scale [embedded post]

.@ReedAlbergotti scoop on the politics of AI https://www.semafor.com/...

“Anthropic's strategy bucks the overall trend in the tech industry, where most CEOs have taken steps to gain favor with the new administration, attempting to influence it from within, rather than fight its policies https://www.semafor.com/...

White House explicitly criticizing Anthropic here (they're the subject of the linked article)
  • @bgurley Bill Gurley on x
Having “state by state” AI rules would be horrible for startups and horrible for innovation. Don't understand the argument for being against federal alignment.
  • @davidsacks David Sacks on x
Agreed. A patchwork of 50 state regulatory regimes would be bad for innovation.
  • @miles_brundage Miles Brundage on x
Anthropic's in the right here. AI companies should either be silent on or opposed to preemption, and certainly not supporting it. Preempting with something is one thing. Preempting with nothing would make it unlikely anything ever happens federally. https://x.com/...

Sccop(s): 1. @AnthropicAI has been lobbying against a federal bill that would preempt state AI laws. 2. The Trump Administration is angry about it. 3. One of Anthropic's advisors is Ben Buchanan, central player on Biden AI/diffusion. https://www.semafor.com/...
