Warner Bros. Discovery says it will change the name of its Max streaming service back to HBO Max this summer, and tweaks its logo; WBD dropped “HBO” in May 2023
Turns out, Warner Bros. Discovery thinks HBO has some pretty good brand equity, after all.

good story on WBD from peter Zazlav managed to piss off all the hollywood talent by pioneering a tax write-off method of erasing films/shows from streamers (which other execs copied) in favor of leaning in to unscripted shows turns out people still enjoy high quality work [image]

Ironically with this Max news, you could argue Netflix actually figured out how to beat Discovery before Discovery could beat Netflix. If you can't beat Netflix at being implausibly big, then you figure out ways to grow your margins in niche by focusing on the powerfully small.
