OpenAI has now raised over $57B which is an incredible number for a startup.  SoftBank put in $30B of the $40B in the latest round.  —  Hopefully this turns out like their ARM investment and not like WeWork.

We are not quite in the WeWork zone, but we're close.  SoftBank had $16bn in WeWork, but only has $9.25bn ($250m last round, $1.5bn tender, $7.5bn in first tranche) in OpenAI so far.  Tranche 2 will make it just a bit bigger at $19.25bn, if they even pay.  —  finance.yahoo.com/ne…

*$40bn  —  *$10bn up front, $30bn “by end of year” and they lose $10bn off the top if they can't convert to for profit, which is in my opinion is impossible.  gonna need it with 500m weekly active users!  Hey why do they never give monthly active?  Is it because the conversion st…

Breaking: SoftBank is valuing OpenAI, which has never turned a profit, and which faces increasing competition and price wars, at $300B. That's more than the market cap for Chevron, Salesforce, Philip Morris, Cisco, Wells Fargo, IBM, Merck, McDonald's, General Electric, PepsiCo,

OpenAI just raised $40 billion in a single fundraising round. $40,000,000,000 Wild.

Suicide round btw. How do you raise past this? Also, why only give $10bn up front? Why is the rest “by the end of the year” if SoftBank is so confident? OpenAI anticipates to spend $13bn on MS' compute in 2025. How do they afford to?

Given almost half ($18B) of the $40B funding will go toward OpenAI's Stargate infrastructure project to establish AI data centers across the U.S., we can conclude that it believes more compute solves the hallucination problem. But many critics think they are barking up the wrong

So as OpenAI raises their big $$$ I have a request from @sama & @kevinweil: a Plus family plan Let me pay say $50 bucks a month for up-to-four members of my family who all have individual memory + isolated experience + history. Maybe some extra credits for Research + Image.
