Apple stumbling with the Vision Pro and then falling flat on its face with AI suggest that it is slipping into a Vista-like drift of systemically poor execution
It matters that Apple's new Siri will be late, and it matters more that Apple didn't realise. Is it more than that?
Solid essay from @benedictevans on the Apple/Siri/AI complexity. There is a fair critique to be made on Apple's execution while also recognizing we are still very early in consumer AI, AND, Apple is likely attempting something very different from others. https://www.ben-evans.com…
As I reported last week, Apple is not firing Giannandrea over its AI issues and never considered doing so. Giannandrea has considered Rockwell his eventual successor.
BREAKING: Apple Vision Pro Chief Mike Rockwell will take over Siri, which is being removed from AI Chief John Giannandrea, I'm told. Rockwell & Siri will report to Craig Federighi. Giannandrea is staying in larger AI role. https://www.bloomberg.com/...
