Snap updates Spectacles AR glasses to add GPS support for Lenses, improved hand tracking, an AR keyboard, and more

Snap’s Spectacles line had already moved from the depth-camera focus of Spectacles 3 toward glasses intended for AR developers and creators. This update adds interaction and location capabilities that can make that developer-facing hardware more useful for building Lenses.

The move also fits a continuing software-platform arc for Spectacles: later coverage of Snap OS 2.0’s WebXR and app updates shows Snap extending the glasses through operating-system features rather than treating the device as static hardware.
