Nintendo teases the Switch 2, featuring a new kickstand design and backward compatibility for physical and digital games, with more details on April 2, 2025

The console looks a lot like the original, but it's bigger.  In the video, the Joy-Con controllers are black with colored accents, and they attach to the console magnetically.

I'm not even a gamer but I deeply appreciate the design thinking that went into this  —  Nintendo's true strength is that their goal is “how to help people have fun (and maybe even connect while doing so)” vs the weird focus on frame rates and clock speeds in the rest of the indu…

It's official: here's the first look at the Switch 2, along with what appears to be a new Mario Kart game.  —  Nintendo says more will be revealed at a Nintendo Direct on April 2. www.youtube.com/watch?v=itpc...

The Switch 2 will be the first new console Nintendo has ever released that isn't notably different from it's predecessor in how you use it to play games.  Same controller, same form factor, same gimmick.  —  Worried this signals a shift to stagnation and chasing graphical fidelit…

Oh my god, Nintendo is working on a new Switch?!

Don't care about the re-designed joycons, I use the Nintendo Pro Controller.  Don't care about the bigger screen, I always play on TV.  —  Do care about the internals and the games.  So I guess I have to wait to hear more about that.  😐  —  #Switch2

The #Nintendo #Switch 1 is fully compatible with wired USB-C headphones but the additional top mounted port on #NintendoSwitch2 would seem to make using them a lot more convenient.  In handheld mode today I still opt for 3.5mm because it's less awkwardly positioned.

My Nintendo hot take is that I never take the thing out of its dock and it would be nice if they sold a cheaper version with no built in screen.

I only really use my Switch for exclusives but damn the Switch 2 looks real nice just as a physical thing.  Less fiddly joycons with hall effect sticks, nicer screen (I had the OG not the OLED) and hopefully a new Mario - lets face it I'll be getting one https://www.nintendo.com/…

Would be a smart way to counter the PC gaming handheld segment by attracting traditional PC games to the platform + tapping into the traditional PC gamer audience that wants a secondary device with a broad range of games. IF this feature is indeed confirmed.

I'm not a gamer or console expert so consider me mostly joking), but selling basically the same machine with a slightly larger screen and different color scheme is taking a page right out of Apple's 2010s book.

Again, not a hardware expert so I'm sure I'm wrong about this, but it ~feels~ like hardware is certainly getting more powerful but it's also getting infinitely more boring Bring back zany hardware tech!!! I don't want a better camera. I want, like, insane Nokia Sidekick designs

Last time Nintendo had a 100-million-selling console, it followed it up with one that sold 14 million So it's noticeable that the Switch 2 trailer all but screams: This Is The Bigger/Better Evolution Of The Switch You Know (not a peripheral to skip) https://www.gamefile.news/...
