    Is there any effort to archive what's on TikTok?  In years to come we'll regret discarding all of that Covid-era history.  It's a snapshot of regular life during that time.

    wow. tiktok will abruptly switch off if there's no intervention to block the ban. it was previously reported the app potentially wouldn't disappear and would instead be removed from app stores with existing users in the u.s. still able use it. seems that won't be the case now.

    @theinformation Assuming that the CCP will never allow a divestiture, the only play left for ByteDance is to maximize this news for Chinese domestic propaganda purposes. A clean shut down helps achieve that propaganda goal more than a muddled temporary work-around does.
