San Francisco's next mayor, Dan Lurie, a Levi's heir with no political experience, wasn't tech leaders' top choice but is a moderate who aims to work with them

[image] @daniellurie : San Francisco's call for accountable leadership, service, and change has been heard. I am both humbled and inspired by the great honor and privilege of serving you—the people of San Francisco—as your next Mayor. Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly on this campaign, and @suhail : If Daniel Lurie *actually* accomplishes this, he will have my vote, my money, and my appreciation for the next cycle. It could be the only thing he does and it would have a deep impact on the city. Shut down the open-air drug markets and reclaim our city. Daniel Lurie today gave his first press conference as San Francisco mayor-elect.  Highlights: He will declare a fentanyl emergency on his first day, he'll forgo the $383,000 salary and unlike any mayor ever, he started on time and was finished in a few minutes. https://www.nytime…

I really liked Mayor Breed.  I thought she did the best she could in some difficult situations including the pandemic.  I know a lot of folks would disagree with me, but I'm not sure anyone could have done much better.  But the city moved on.  We'll see if Lurie does any better. …
