Been trying to explain for years that all of this — the hyper-investment in AI, the “gig economy”, the constant layoffs and attacks on workers rights under the guise of attacking DEI — it's all a pretense to undermine labor.  It's the single, unifying principle behind all of it. …

I can't tell if he thinks he's offering his AI search engine to replace the reporters who aren't on strike or the tech workers who are, but either way LMFAO at this man for simping to a company that's suing him and not understanding how his own technology works.  —  RE: https://w…

Talk about having zero shame.  When it comes to AI startups, Perplexity feels like the worst of the bunch.  Maybe they're just the ones with the worst messaging strategy, but either way their CEO would probably benefit from buying a muzzle.  —  RE: https://www.threads.net/...

Hey AG Sulzberger @nytimes - sorry to see this. Perplexity is on standby to help ensure your essential coverage is available to all through the election. DM me anytime here.

We are on ULP strike. We gave @nytimes management months of notice of our strike deadline, we made ourselves available around the clock, but the company has decided that our members aren't worth enough to agree to a fair contract and stop committing unfair labor practices. [image…

It would be bad for the country if https://nyt.com/ were down on Election Day. Everyone should pitch in to help. To be clear, the offer was *not* to “replace” journalists or engineers with AI but to provide technical infra support on a high-traffic day.

Perplexity is a scab outfit, very nasty stuff

Most surprising thing about the reaction to this sincere offer is no one else seems to realize how bad it would be for the country if https://nyt.com/ is down on Election Day

To be clear this is a major AI company pitching the Times' owner on automating striking workers
  • @grimkim Kim Kelly on x
Oh cool an AI guy is now publicly offering to break a picket line and replace striking workers with his robot trash, surely this will have no negative impact on anything
  • @techworkerscony @techworkerscony on x
Brilliant move! Using shitty AI to replace the workers of @NYTGuildTech will both further crater AI's reputation, and also hurt the NYT bosses even more.

The point ofAI is always to circumvent consent There is no innovation . There is no respect It is always to try and assert that those who use AI are more “human” than those it steals from
